    ANG Dockside Connections

ANG Smart-Y, Splitter, Pigtail Adapters, Marine Shore Cord, Connectors & Plugs

    ANG Smart-Y™

ANG Smart-Y comes complete with all necessary cables, connectors, and plugs.

    AUTOMATIC PARALLELING CONTROLLER IP56

Sometimes, a marina or dock does not provide a single 100-amp outlet but instead offers multiple 50-amp receptacles. This is common in older or less-equipped marinas where the infrastructure was designed for smaller vessels.

If your boat uses a 100-amp 120/240V single-phase system, you need a SMART Y ADAPTER with an automatic paralleling controller. This device safely combines two 50-amp receptacles to supply power to your 100-amp system.

The ANG Smart-Y Controller allows you to safely connect your boat’s 100-amp 120/240V single-phase shore power cord to two 50-amp 120/240V dock pedestal receptacles. Housed in an IP56-rated fiberglass enclosure, the Smart-Y is built to withstand harsh marine environments and ensure worry-free operation.

The unit automatically verifies the phase of both 50A connections and corrects them when necessary to create a safe, parallel connection.

Housed in an IP56-rated fiberglass enclosure, it enables you to connect your 100A, 120/240V single-phase system safely to two 50A, 120/240V receptacles.
It automatically checks the phase of both 50A connections and corrects them when necessary to create a safe parallel connection.

    INPUT: Two 50A 120/240V 60Hz or Two 50A 0/230V 50Hz
    OUTPUT: One 100A 120/240V 60Hz or One 100A 0/230V 50Hz

ANG Smart-Y comes complete with all necessary cables, connectors, and plugs.

    WARNINGS

The unit may not work on docks with GFCI protection.

Always connect and disconnect both 50 Amp 120/240V cables simultaneously.

Please don’t use Smart-Y if a transformer or converter isn’t installed on board.

DO NOT USE with one 50 Amp only.

CAUTION – risk of electric shock.

NEVER TOUCH EXPOSED PLUG BLADES IF THE OTHER IS CONNECTED.

The Smart-Y is designed to operate at 120V/240V, 50/60Hz. Proper functionality is not guaranteed when connected to three-phase systems (e.g., 208V), and use with such configurations is not recommended. The Smart-Y is intended for single-phase or split-phase applications only and is not compatible with three-phase power.

To CONNECT: Place both breakers of the power pedestal outlets in the OFF position, connect the Input 1 and 2 plugs and the load plug to the 100 Amp Output, and finally turn ON both breakers on the dock pedestal.

To DISCONNECT: turn off both dock breakers and disconnect the Input 1 and 2 plugs, as well as the plug connected to the 100 Amp Output.

This device must always be powered (Input 1 and 2) through 50 Amp breakers.

This device does not protect against overloads or short circuits that may be produced by the load connected to the 100 Amp Output.
This device does not provide galvanic isolation; therefore, you should use an isolation transformer.

    ANG Splitter™

ANG Splitter comes complete with all necessary cables, connectors, and plugs.

    Dockside marine Power Splitter

Some boats are equipped with dual 50-amp inlets to accommodate systems that draw significant power across multiple circuits, such as air conditioning, refrigeration, and other essential onboard equipment. A dockside marine power splitter allows the vessel to utilize a single 100-amp power source efficiently by dividing it into two 50-amp connections. This ensures proper distribution of power to the boat’s systems and complies with marina power configurations.

If your boat has twin 50A shore power connections, our ANG Splitter enables you to safely connect the boat’s two 50-amp 120/240V shore power cords to a single 100-amp 120/240V dock pedestal receptacle.

Our dockside Y-splitter is housed in an IP56-rated fiberglass enclosure, engineered to withstand harsh marine environments.

Housed in an IP56 fiberglass enclosure, it safely splits a 100A input cable into two 50A output cables.

INPUT ONE 100A 120/240V or 0/230V Single Phase 60/50 Hz
    OUTPUT TWO 50A 120/240V or 0/230V Single Phase 60/50Hz

Best Practices for Marine Cables & Pigtail Adapters

Storage, Operation, Maintenance, and Normal Use Guidelines

Marine shore power cables and pigtail adapters are critical components of your vessel’s electrical system. Proper use and care extend their life, ensure safety, and maintain performance in harsh marine environments. The following best practices reflect current industry standards and are recommended for all ANG marine cables and adapters.

    1. Standard Operating Guidelines

    • Always inspect before use:
Check for visible damage, corrosion, or signs of overheating at connectors and along the cable jacket.

    • Ensure tight and clean connections:
Connectors should be fully seated, dry, and free of salt or grime before engaging shore power.

    • Use proper cord rating:
Match the amperage and voltage ratings to the dockside pedestal and onboard inlet (e.g., a 100A 120/240V cord must match both the shore and boat receptacles).

    • Avoid adapters in line with active loads:
Never plug or unplug pigtail adapters under load. Turn off breakers first to prevent arcing.

    • Protect connections:
Use locking rings or watertight covers to keep plug junctions dry and secure.

    2. Maintenance & Inspection

    • Routine visual checks:
      Inspect cables monthly for:

      • Soft spots, cracks, or swelling

      • Discoloration at terminals

      • Pitting or corrosion on pins

    • Clean connectors regularly:
Use dielectric grease on terminals and wipe connectors with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid harsh solvents.

    • Test continuity and insulation resistance:
Use a multimeter or insulation tester annually, especially before long voyages.

    • Replace damaged components:
If any part of the cable, plug, or pigtail shows heat damage, water ingress, or physical wear, replace it immediately.

    3. Storage Best Practices

    • Store dry and cool:
Keep cables and adapters in a ventilated compartment away from moisture and direct sunlight.

    • Avoid tight coils:
Loosely coil cables with a minimum diameter of 18–24 inches to prevent internal conductor fatigue.

    • Use cord bags or reels:
Properly designed storage prevents kinking and abrasion. Avoid hanging cables from connectors.

    • Dry before storing:
After use, rinse with fresh water (if exposed to salt) and allow to dry completely before storage.

    4. Usage Safety Standards ⚠️

    • Never modify cords or adapters:
Altering plugs or splicing marine cables voids certifications and creates a safety hazard.

    • Respect IP ratings:
Only use pigtail adapters rated for outdoor/marine use (ANG adapters are IP56+). Avoid indoor-rated components on the dock.

    • Avoid excessive strain:
Use strain reliefs or cord supports to reduce mechanical load on plug connections.

    • Comply with ABYC and CE standards:
All ANG cables and pigtail adapters are built to meet or exceed international safety certifications (UL, CE, IP67), and should be installed in accordance with ABYC E-11 guidelines.
